County Septic System Draft Regulations Released

Bacterial contamination at Trinidad-Westhaven beaches may be partly due to failing septic systems, so maintaining your septic system is a must! The County has released for public review and comment several documents for the Onsite Wastewater Local Agency Management Program (LAMP).  The Division of Environmental Health will hold an informational meeting at Trinidad Town Hall on Tuesday January 26  at 6:00 p.m. to answer questions about the draft documents.  The news release is available here. The draft documents and additional information about the LAMP  is available at the DEH Land-Use webpage.   Also, information about funding assistance for repair or replacement of failing OWTS is available on the Watershed Projects page under Trinidad Westhaven Coastal Water Quality Program – OWTS Emphasis. Septic Systems are also known as Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems or OWTS.
